Calculates the payback period for photovoltaic (PV) solar panels – how long it takes to make a profit from the installation of PV solar panels.
Uses the 2005 Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP 20025) as dictated by MCS Installation Standard MIS 3002.

The calculator does not factor in the ‘cost of money’ (for instance interest).
SAP 2005 is a conservative calculation.

Calculates the increase in house value after installing solar panels.
Calculates house price increase for different buyer mortgage rates and different inflation rates.
The goal is to get the text ‘House value increase correct’ in the yellow cell by adjusting the value for the ‘House Value Increase Estimate’.
Be sure to set the values to reasonable numbers, you can get some oddities if not (for instance house value increase greater that £25,000, this is correct but does not seem so).

Calculates the returns from a 25 year annuity; compares the returns from a 25 year annuity with the returns from solar panels.
The annuity is paid back over the term of the annuity, monthly annuity rates rise at the rate of inflation.
